ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER SOARS BY 13 PERCENTAGE POINTS IN MBINGA RURAL AREAS

Mbinga.  Access to clean and safe water in rural areas of Mbinga District has jumped by 13 percentage points in a space of four years, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) revealed over the weekend.

Access to clean and safe water now stands at 62 percent, up from only 49 percent recorded in 2019, according to Ruwasa acting manager for Mbinga District, Mr Frolian Francis.

He made this promising revelation on Saturday (December 9, 2023) during the climax of the 62nd Independence Day Celebration held at Kigonsera High School here in Mbinga District.

Mr Francis said more is coming, banking his hopes on the 15 projects worth Sh17 billion, whose implementation is on progress in various parts of Mbinga District.

“After a completion of the projects, access to clean and safe water in rural areas will fly to over 85 percent come 2025,” he exuded his optimism.

Before the independence of Tanzania Mainland in 1961, Mbinga District had no even one single water project for its people, but for colonisers.

But now, things have changed for the better, hats off to the freedom fighters led by the founding father of this nation, the Late Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

In the same vein, the government also deserves to be poured with praises for its commitment to bringing social services closer to its people.  

Independence Day Celebration, which was also attended by Mbinga Town Council (MTC) Chair, Hon. Kelvin Mapunda and director Ms. Amina Seif, signifies a long battle for freedom and felicitates the people who fought for the same.
